Lost In Translation is a mixed media piece constructed using acetate and stickers and is 392-inches x 1680-inches in size made up of over 150 pieces. Within this piece I used a variety of non traditional fiber materials to explore the idea of recreating tie-ups from weaving patterns. I worked to depict every eight-harness tie-up pattern from the book "A Weaver's Book of 8-Shaft Patterns: From the Friends of Handwoven" by Carol Stickler which totaled to 166 tie-ups that became 166 two foot by two foot acetate squares. Each square was then placed overlapping the next to create a distinct pattern that changed with every installation. This was an iteration of the piece in which I explored the effects of how light would pass through the window and each individual square.
